RELIEVERS: 2018 AL Spring Training Wrap

Spring training is wrapping up and the most important thing to remember is that the sample sizes are way way WAY too small to put any stock in. Teams evaluate players for roles using these tiny samples (and a lot of work that we don't see in numbers) on back fields and in situational drills and also in the progression from mid-February to now in multiple ways. It is still a time to pause and comment, but take the spring stats for what they are worth—which is practically nothing.

It goes without saying that we need not waste time in Boston. Or Cleveland, although non-roster reclamation project Alexi Ogando (RHP, CLE) has been having a very very nice spring. Or New York, Toronto, Seattle, or Houston. The goal is to sort noise from news,...
