PT TOMORROW: NL West—Hope for Ha-Seong Kim

Despite two stints on the injured list for Fernando Tatis (SS, SD), Ha-Seong Kim (SS, SD) has accrued only 88 plate appearances six weeks into the season (through Saturday). As suggested throughout spring training, the team has kept his role limited except when otherwise forced due to injury, and he’s done little to force their hand for more playing time with his performance at the plate (24.1 K%, 3.4 BB%, -36 BPV). 

On the other hand, he’s drawn rave reviews from teammates and manager Jayce Tingler for his defense, and advanced metrics have measured him as above average at both second and third base. Of late, there’s also been some hope for his bat to turn around. Tingler has similarly voiced confidence in Kim...
