When the Kansas City front office and coaching staff do their post-mortem on this disappointing follow-up to a 2025 season that saw the Royals make the postseason, one of the fatal flaws that will certainly stand out is the team's 20 blown saves, tied for third-most in baseball, a frustrating stat that has left them with a 57% save conversion rate as a team. It started with Carlos Estévez's Opening Day meltdown, continued through Lucas Erceg's ascension and fall, and now that same pattern seems to be happening to Alex Lange.

With a walk-off loss to the Twins on Tuesday night, Lange has now blown three of his last five save attempts, and is sporting a 17.61 ERA and 2.35 WHIP since June 26. His full-season numbers now...
