PT TOMORROW: NL West - Potential upgrades to the Padres lineup

The Padres entered the season with one of the scariest lineups on paper (assuming Fernando Tatis (SS, SD) is healthy), yet they have just a 97 wRC+ and .308 wOBA through Friday’s action. Those marks have put them in the middle of the league, despite many members of their lineup delivering expected results. Two of the most notable underperformers have been Eric Hosmer (1B, SD) and Wil Myers (1B/OF, SD). (Hosmer was recently put under the FACTS/FLUKES microscope, here).

Given that Hosmer has four years and $59 million on his contract after the 2021 season, it’s unlikely that the team makes a major move to upgrade the position prior to the trade deadline. The team does have some internal versatility, which would include
