It’s still a bit early to discuss the Padres’ potential plans for their lineup once Fernando Tatis (SS/OF, SD) returns from the injured list. However, Ha-Seong Kim (2B/SS/3B, SD) has quietly taken a step forward (77 ct%, 0.60 eye, .269 xBA, 97 xPX) and could be on his way to claiming a continued role even once Tatis returns. 

The first step to doing so will be edging C.J. Abrams (SS, SD) for playing time, though that almost appears a formality at this point. Abrams sat against lefties to begin the season, but he has recently given way to Kim even against righties. While forgivable given his lack of experience in the upper minors and the fact that he’s only 21, Abrams has simply looked overmatched (76 ct%, 69 HctX, 92...
