It’s still a bit early to discuss the Padres’ potential plans for their lineup once Fernando Tatis (SS/OF, SD) returns from the injured list. However, Ha-Seong Kim (2B/SS/3B, SD) has quietly taken a step forward (77 ct%, 0.60 eye, .269 xBA, 97 xPX) and could be on his way to claiming a continued role even once Tatis returns.
The first step to doing so will be edging C.J. Abrams (SS, SD) for playing time, though that almost appears a formality at this point. Abrams sat against lefties to begin the season, but he has recently given way to Kim even against righties.
