For a week in mid-December, it appeared as though Carlos Correa (SS, MIN) was poised to unseat Brandon Crawford (SS, SF) as the shortstop in San Francisco. While the Correa saga was well-documented and ultimately mercifully concluded with him returning to Minnesota, Crawford has seemingly survived as San Francisco’s starting shortstop. However, he saw a concerning dip in skills at the plate in 2022 (86 HctX, 95 xPX, 10 BPV), and his work with the glove earned mixed reviews (93rd percentile outs above average, but -6 DRS). While perhaps unlikely, he could be at risk of losing playing time if his skills at the plate don’t rebound.
