When minor bumps and bruises have kept starters out of the lineup for a day or two in the early going, Adam Frazier (IF/OF, PIT) has been the main playing time beneficiary. He has started six of the Pirates’ first nine games, getting the nod from manager Clint Hurdle at 2B, 3B, LF, and DH.

Frazier flashed decent all-around skills in 146 AB for the Pirates in 2016 (mostly in the second half): a .291 xBA, 8% BB%, 93 xPX, and 132 Spd. Prior to his call-up, he dominated International League pitching in Triple-A, where he led the league in BA among batters with at least 250 PA last season.
