PT TOMORROW: NL Central - Hicks ready to reassume closer role in STL

Heading into the 2021 season, the Cardinals appear to boast the deepest bullpen in the NL Central, and potentially in the National League altogether. Bolstering their depth is the expected return of Jordan Hicks (RHP, STL), who has not pitched in game action since June 22, 2019. The flame-throwing right-hander was emerging as one of the best young closers in the game prior to being derailed by an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery. He then opted out of the 2020 season due to health concerns exacerbated by his diagnosis as a Type 1 Diabetic. Expected to open the 2021 campaign on a normal throwing schedule, Hicks could immediately step back into the closer role.
