Asked if he would consider inserting Steven Wright (RHP, BOS) into the starting rotation after Wright for a second time gave the team multiple innings in relief of an ineffective starter, manager Alex Cora replied, “Not right now.”

It is a reasonable answer, especially since Wright’s relief work has hardly been stellar. Rather, it has been completely in keeping with the Wright’s skills, whose xERA was 4.42 even in his best season.

Nonetheless, not unlike the philosophy the team adopted when Tim Wakefield was a rotation staple, Cora may well decide that it makes sense to have a rubber-armed knuckleballer taking a turn every fifth day, especially given the ability to outslug opponents of his league-leading offense.
