As was noted in this space last week, Mickey Gasper fell victim to the numbers crunch despite his torrid stretch when he was demoted on September 30; however, he made a quick return, being called up a day later to replace Willson Contreras at first base. Gasper’s torrid stretch has continued since he returned, as he added three more homers to his season ledger. His output since his mid-August promotion (xxxx) has brought his season line in the majors to .276/.387/.500 in 187 PA.
While Gasper’s pace during this time is not sustainable (look no further than his 47% HR/F as a figure that should regress significantly), he has shown enough encouraging signs to back up his viability as a major league hitter. Gasper’s BBa QBaB...
