Jeff Hoffman’s time as Toronto’s closer, which commenced at the beginning of 2025, can be best equated to a rollercoaster ride, as he’s combined flashes of brilliance with sharp downturns. Despite rough patches that called into question his staying power in the closer role, Hoffman finished 2025 with 33 saves, third-most in the American League. Hoffman put together a solid postseason (12.1 IP, 1.46 ERA, 29.2 K-BB%), but the lasting image of his October was the game-tying ninth-inning home run he allowed to Miguel Rojas in Game 7 of the World Series, which was followed by Toronto’s 11-inning loss.
