NEWS: Toronto announced that RHP Max Scherzer is headed to the 15-day IL with a thumb injury; LHP Easton Lucas was recalled from AAA-Buffalo in a corresponding move.

BHQ SPIN: Max Scherzer was removed early from his start against the Orioles on Saturday due to right lat soreness. However, the veteran right-hander later clarified that his exit was actually related to a lingering thumb injury that has troubled him since spring training. The Blue Jays have officially listed the injury as a thumb injury. As a result, he will be shut down for at least two weeks in hopes that extended rest will resolve the issue.
