NEWS: The Tigers signed LHP Framber Valdez to a 3-year, $115M contract.

BHQ SPIN: Valdez was one of the final remaining big fish free agents on the market and he finally found his landing spot in Detroit. It should be a great fit for Valdez as he will slot into the Tigers rotation after LHP Tarik Skubal. On the surface Valdez appears to have taken a step back in performance (3.66 ERA, 1.24 WHIP), but his 3.31 xERA indicates that he still has something left in the tank. Valdez has surpassed at least 176 IP in each of the past four seasons and typically combines one of the best groundball rates in the league (2025: 57 GB%) with an above average strikeout rate (23 K%).
