NEWS: RHP Cade Horton will miss the rest of the season due to elbow reconstruction surgery.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: After leaving his start last Friday with elbow discomfort, Horton underwent imaging which revealed that he will require season-ending UCL reconstruction surgery. Horton’s extended absence should extend the rotation runway for his replacement, Colin Rea, who should be the favorite to remain in the rotation when Matthew Boyd returns from injury. Javier Assad, who threw 80 pitches in 5.2 innings on Tuesday, also appears to have some runway on a rotation spot while Boyd is on the IL, leaving Ben Brown in a relief role for the time being.
