NEWS: Seattle placed LHP Robbie Ray on the 15-day IL and in a corresponding move recalled LHP Gabe Speier from AAA-Tacoma.

BHQ SPIN: 3.1 innings into his 2023 campaign, Ray finds himself on the shelf with a left flexor strain. Manager Scott Servais said that the team will shut him down for 2 weeks and then re-evaluate. He gave a rough estimate of 4-6 weeks before Ray would be back. The Mariners look to have an internal replacement in RHP Chris Flexen, who was also stretched out this spring as a starter. There is nothing particularly exciting about Flexen’s profile other than his ability to keep his ERA more than a run lower than his xERA (3.61 ERA/4.60 xERA in 2021 and 3.73 ERA/5.11...
