PT TODAY: Gallegos gains in Saves opportunities

NATIONAL LEAGUE  |  Jump to AL

Cardinals

NEWS:  RHP Giovanny Gallegos is earning more save chances.

IMPACT:  Medium

BHQ SPIN:  Gallegos (+15% SV) has successfully converted the last two opportunities he’s had – while RHP Ryan Helsley (-15% SV) has blown his last opportunity. While Gallegos may be getting a little lucky (2.38 ERA vs. 4.07 xERA), his control (4 BB%) is making him a more reliable option despite his inferior skills when compared to Helsley (30 K%). If Helsley can get a handle on his control (11 BB%) he should regain the lion's share of chances – but until that happens, this looks more like a 50/50 split.
