NEWS: Atlanta acquired catcher Sean Murphy in exchange for six players including William Contreras.

IMPACT: High

BHQ SPIN: Almost all signs are pointing up for Murphy, who will likely serve as Atlanta’s primary catcher but will also likely see action at DH. He will also be helped by the move from Oakland to Atlanta. Count him as one of the top catching options entering 2023. Murphy’s arrival seemingly pushes Travis d’Arnaud to a back-up role, but Atlanta will likely use d’Arnaud and Murphy at DH, maintaining some of d’Arnaud’s value as a second catcher.
