NEWS: Atlanta optioned both Vaughn Grissom and Braden Shewmake to Triple-A Gwinnett.

BHQ SPIN: When spring training commenced, most pundits believed Grissom would take over from Dansby Swanson at Atlanta’s starting shortstop. More recently, there was talk that Braden Shewmake, another Atlanta prospect, might get the gig instead. Now, both are headed to the minors. We’ve reduced playing time projections for both, but we wouldn’t be surprised if one or both returns sooner rather than later. In their absence, Orlando Arcia appears to be the choice to start at short.  Over his career, he has only returned double digit value once, back in 2017, so he would appear to only be an option in deep leagues.
