Reds' corners continue to be hobbled

The Reds announced August 11 that Joey Votto (1B, CIN) had undergone an additional surgical procedure to remove a "little floating chunk of cartilage" from his injured left knee, which will delay his return seven to 10 days, putting his return at somewhere near or after September 1. Before injuring his knee in mid-July, Votto had been poised to repeat or even exceed his stellar 2011 numbers. Almost guaranteed a playoff berth, the Reds will likely chart a conservative course with Votto and are thus working at cross purposes from fantasy owners, who would like him back as soon as possible.
