Eric Hosmer's (1B, KC) debacle of a season might have come to its merciful end on Thursday, as the second-year player left the game after straining his right shoulder. He's officially day-to-day, though with only six games remaining, the club might just shut him down for the season pending more test results.

Hosmer has looked little like the budding superstar who hit the ground running after his call-up early in the 2011 season. In 2012, a combination of a 26% hit rate and an increased ground-ball rate (54%) has pulled his BA down to .232 and dropped his OPS from .800 in 2011 to .665 in 2012. The good news is that his base skills remained stable—his bb% actually grew to 9% and he had an 82% ct%—so...
