PLAYING TIME: Chapman returns to closer role, Motte out indefinitely
Mar 24 2013
Reds | Aroldis Chapman to close Updating previous report, the Cincinnati Reds announced Friday, March 22, that SP Aroldis Chapman will be the team's closer. Source: CBSSports.com - Scott Miller BHQ take: Chapman established himself as an elite closer in 2012 with 38 saves and 122 K in 72 IP, backed by a 213 BPV and a 2.12 xERA. For the second straight year, the Reds have abandoned off-season plans to have Chapman join the starting rotation. The move seems to indicate the Reds are focused more on winning now than on Chapman's long-term development. —Tom Kephart Impact: High Chapman, Aroldis PT Loss: -5% SV Gain: 85%
