Pirates activate O'Hearn; Valdez departs with hamstring injury

NEWS: Activated 1B/OF Ryan O’Hearn from the 10-day IL.
IMPACT: Medium
BHQ SPIN: O’Hearn ends up missing nearly two months with a quad injury. He will be limited to 1B/DH duty for the rest of the season, so look for him to take time from the slumping Spencer Horwitz. Notably, OF Esmerlyn Valdez left Friday’s game with a hamstring injury. Severity of that injury is not yet known. O’Hearn will not be a candidate to fill in for Valdez directly, although he could take the DH role and allow DH/OF Bryan Reynolds to slide back to the OF full-time.
