NEWS: Toronto Blue Jays’ RHP Cody Ponce was carted off the field due to a right knee injury; RHP Lazardo Estrada was recalled from AAA-Buffalo.

BHQ SPIN: Ponce was making his first Major League Baseball appearance since 2021 after four seasons in the far east; first playing in the NPB in Japan and last season in the KBO in Korea. Ponce was fielding a weakly hit ground ball when he pulled up lame. He has been sent for imaging on the knee and his affliction is currently described as “knee discomfort.” The Jays are hoping for the best as they are already short handed with Trey Yesavage, Shane Bieber, and José Berríos all starting the season on the IL.
