NEWS: Chicago released RHP Héctor Neris and selected the contract of RHP Jack Neely from AAA-Iowa.

BHQ SPIN: Neris, who recorded a team-high 16 saves while serving as Chicago’s closer for much of the season, was released on Tuesday and will now be free to sign with another team. The decision to release Neris after he cleared waivers voids his vested player option for 2025 that would have guaranteed his salary in 2025 if he appeared in 60 games or finished 45 games. Chicago will have a variety of options to replace Neris closing out games and has declined to name a closer as of now.
