Canario to see time with Suzuki on shelf

NEWS: Chicago placed OF Seiya Suzuki on the 10-day IL with a right oblique strain and recalled OF Alexander Canario from AAA-Iowa.

BHQ SPIN: Suzuki, who was off to a hot start to the season (.305/.368/.525), injured his oblique while running to first base in the eighth inning of Sunday’s game. The team is reportedly still awaiting MRI results before announcing the severity of the strain and a potential timeline to return. In Suzuki’s absence, it is expected that Chicago will mainly deploy a platoon in right field, with Mike Tauchman on the strong side and Canario on the weak side. Tauchman’s uptick in right field time should also open up some designated hitter at-bats since he had started...
