Campusano gets another shot in SD

NEWS: C Luis Campusano is expected to open the season as the Padres backup catcher.

BHQ SPIN: C Freddy Fermin, who the Padres acquired last season from the Royals, is locked in as the Friars starting C, but Campusano (25% PT at C and 5% PT  at DH) looks like he will break camp as the backup. With highly-regarded prospect C Ethan Salas still likely at least a year away from an opportunity at the MLB level, and C Elias Díaz and C Martín Maldonado both having departed, it appears as if Campusano will get another chance with the Padres to start the season. Campusano has not been able to match his initial success in 2023 (.319/.356/.491 with 7 HR in 163 AB) at the MLB level and went 0 for 21...
