His role back in the big leagues was at least immediately unclear, with the Tampa Bay Times’ Marc Topkin linking the promotion to RHP Drew Rasmussen’s “strict” innings limit of 150, given his history of elbow surgeries. Sure enough, during the team’s July 6 game, Boyle piggybacked Rasmussen to great effect.
