NEWS: Chicago agreed to terms with OF/1B Cody Bellinger to a 3-year, $80 million contract.

BHQ SPIN: After a long stalemate, Chicago and Bellinger finally found a compromise, agreeing to a deal that includes three guaranteed years but is also relatively front-loaded and contains opt-outs following the 2024 and 2025 seasons. The signing does not affect Bellinger’s playing time outlook since he had been projected to be a regular wherever he signed, but it does have significant downstream effects on the rest of Chicago’s roster, especially because Bellinger can play both in the outfield and at first base.
