NEWS: The A’s placed DH Brent Rooker on the 10-day IL with a left knee bone bruise and activated SS Jacob Wilson from the 10-day IL.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: Rooker has struggled massively all year, so it’s hard to blame this injury for his results. However, this is his second IL stint already this year, suggesting he’s been banged up all over. He’ll momentarily vacate the DH role, opening up a platoon opportunity for Carlos Cortes and Jonah Heim, while Lawrence Butler replaces Cortes on the strong side of a right field platoon with Colby Thomas. As for Wilson, he missed exactly a month with a dislocated shoulder and will plug back into the everyday shortstop role, displacing Alika Williams to the bench.
