ROTISSERIE: Weaponized FAAB

Here’s an interesting phenomenon: when you get to the end of a season, there are usually several teams who have used up their FAAB, either mostly or completely.

If you’re like most GMs, including yours truly, you use FAAB somewhat defensively. When you have a hole to fill due to an injury or a demotion, you dip into the FAAB wallet. If you see a juicy free agent that can fill a statistical gap, or a promising rookie who’s unowned, maybe you dig in. And maybe you hold on to your money and wait for those big names who switch leagues at the deadline (i.e., fool’s gold).

But what if, instead of reacting and playing defense with your FAAB, you went on the attack? Tried using your FAAB to mess with your fellow owners instead of just sitting...

Almost!
