Let's wrap-up our mid-season one-split-away theme by looking at the stats and skills posted by starting pitchers as they go through lineups during a game.

There is a clear erosion in ERA and WHIP the more times a SP goes through a lineup during a game.

The same holds true for their underlying skills, as BPV, K-BB%, and HR/9 also significant in-game deterioration.

Let's take a look at some significant BPV by time through lineup splits so far in 2026 by focusing on those guys with the widest variances. The goal of this exercise is to identify pitchers who could be an adjustment away from making significant improvement.
