STARTERS: Early 2020 targets

Our last SP Buyers Guide column of the regular season will point you towards early 2020 targets.

Here are a bunch of starting pitchers in each league that have a good shot at improving significantly in 2020.
 

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Jaime Barría (RHP, LAA) has shown some promising flashes as a SP during his age-22 season. He turned his mediocre 49 BPV from 2018 into a decent 83 BPV in 2019, including a 103 BPV as a starter prior to his last demotion. His mediocre rates of swinging and first-pitch strikes give us pause to recommend him as anything more than a flyer, but he's got enough upside to surprise in 2020.
