F/F SPOTLIGHT: Michael Conforto

If it seemed like Michael Conforto (OF, NYM) burst on the MLB scene quickly, it’s because… well, he did.

Last week, we just completed the 2019 MLB First Year Player Draft, so it marks exactly five seasons ago that Conforto was taken with the 10th overall pick by the Mets. We’ve been doing first-round recaps for years (here’s the 2019 version), but our entry on Conforto in 2014 is intriguing. After lauding his consistency for both BA and power, we stated:

Conforto doesn’t project as much of an outfielder, and maybe an average first baseman at best, and so he might be best suited to being a DH. That might be the best for him, since the glove is one of the few things preventing him from being major league-ready quickly.

Well, count us...
