As is the case with starting pitchers, fantasy managers often overvalue Opening Day starting lineups. As such, bats who start the season on the bench often can be rostered at a nice discount. Especially those with hidden or emerging skills, since they are likely to carve out full-time roles once an opportunity arises.
Here are a bunch of bats on MLB benches whose value could increase as the 2024 season moves along.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Wilyer Abreu (OF, BOS) showed passable plate skills (10% bb%, 70% ct%, 0.39 Eye) and some speed (116 Spd) during his MLB debut in 2023.
