Early bench targets, 2024

As is the case with starting pitchers, fantasy managers often overvalue Opening Day starting lineups. As such, bats who start the season on the bench often can be rostered at a nice discount. Especially those with hidden or emerging skills, since they are likely to carve out full-time roles once an opportunity arises.

Here are a bunch of bats on MLB benches whose value could increase as the 2024 season moves along.
 

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Wilyer Abreu (OF, BOS) showed passable plate skills (10% bb%, 70% ct%, 0.39 Eye) and some speed (116 Spd) during his MLB debut in 2023. His batted ball indicators were even better (91.3 mph EV, 9.4% Brl%). His 46% h% certainly was a fluke and was the driver behind his .342 BA, but his ability to play all three...
