BATTING: Potential SB Helpers

At BaseballHQ.com, we’re always on the lookout for possible ways to quickly identify potential contributors by looking at their underlying skills.

Thus we have measures like xBA, to measure a batter’s appropriate BA level given his ability to avoid striking out, his GB/FB/LD profile, and so on. The idea is that we can look for batters whose xBAs are way out of synch with their actual BAs, suggesting there might well be a correction coming, for good or ill.

In this edition of the BBG, we’ll try to accomplish the same thing for that rare offensive category: Stolen Bases.
