BATTING: Fast BA starts

We’re a little less than 10 percent of the way into the season (9.6% as of the end of play on Sunday).

At this point, we might have to stop asking if Matt Kemp’s hot start is for real and start asking if Kemp himself is for real, or if he is some sort of space cyborg sent from an advanced alien civilization to conquer the earth, beginning, for reasons known only to the leaders of the advanced alien civilization, with the NL West.

Kemp’s start (9-22-1-.450-17, 320 PX/1.474 OPS) is just the most ridiculous among batters who have leapt out to unusually strong production. In this edition of the BBG, we’ll look at the stat leaders in BA, and comment on the likelihood of any batter maintaining even a semblance of his early pace.
