GM's OFFICE: The Flip side of flexibility

In my weekly USATODAY chat last week, a questioner asked about Aaron Altherr’s slow start. It was a typical April question in these chats, along the lines of: “How long should I wait on (insert any underperforming player with ~30 AB) before I cut him and move on?” But it got me thinking about the Phillies roster construction circumstances particularly, and if there are wider, fantasy baseball implications.

The issue? Multi-position players. 

During February and March, as we plan for and execute our drafts and auctions, we sing the praises of multi-position players, for obvious reasons. (I even used "Flexiblity" as a theme for my Tout Wars Mixed Auction recap last month.) Players who qualify at several positions provide our fantasy teams...
