GM's OFFICE: Categorizing 2023's surprise performances

One of our key principles here at BaseballHQ.com is transparency: we believe in showing our work, our thought processes, and the inputs that we use to reach conclusions. At this time of year, that often means a look back at what we got right and wrong this season.

Years (decades, even!) of experience at this have taught us that we are fallible, in fact that we're always going to be wrong in a whole bunch of different ways. And with the new rules this year, we picked up a whole bunch of new reasons we could go wrong!

For those who publish projections, the gig seemingly always gets harder. But that's ok. Perfection isn't attainable. But transparency is. 

Whether our projections missed for reasons old or new, we know how to react when that...
