Three weeks later, the Padres' trade deadline acquisitions haven’t worked out as planned. Josh Hader (LHP, SD) has taken the brunt of that discussion thanks to his very public struggles. After allowing six earned runs across his first 3.1 innings with his new club, manager Bob Melvin announced that the team would utilize a closer-by-committee approach in the short-term. On Saturday, we saw that come to fruition, as Luis García (RHP, SD) maintained a one-run lead with ease to tally his third save of the season.

Hader’s struggles have also overshadowed those of Josh Bell (1B, SD). Even after accounting for Bell’s game-winning homer on Saturday night, he has gone just 8-for-61 with three RBI and 11 runs scored in 17 games...
