Reports have emerged in the last week that the Diamondbacks are open to trading Christian Walker (1B, ARI). That makes plenty of sense from the team’s perspective, as Walker is 31 years old and is in the midst of his best season in the majors (77 ct%, 122 HctX, 154 xPX, 77 BPV). Despite his work with the bat, Walker’s potential trade market is a bit unclear given that he is limited only to first base, where he plays well above-average defense, or designated hitter. Contenders such as Atlanta, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and San Diego could all upgrade their lineup in those spots with the acquisition of Walker, though there has been no public connection to any other club.
