PT TOMORROW: NL West—Cronenworth the front runner at 2B in SD?

San Diego Padres

Among the National League teams most affected by the lack of a designated hitter is the Padres, who spent much of the offseason bolstering their bench and depth options. A position particularly crowded is second base, where 2020 breakout star Jake Cronenworth (1B/2B/SS, SD) and Ha-Seong Kim (2B, SD) figure to earn the majority of their playing time. Also in the picture at the position are Jurickson Profar (2B/OF, SD) or Jorge Mateo (OF, SD), though it’s harder to envision either securing significant at-bats at the position without injury.

A combination of offseason reports, early spring training playing time, and prior playing experience can give us clues as to how playing time may break down entering the season....
