PT TOMORROW: NL West—Cain on shaky ground

San Francisco Giants

San Francisco's rotation has been a juggling act for the much of the season, and several question marks linger as the team enters their stretch run. Madison Bumgarner (LHP, SF) has been dominant as the staff's anchor and new acquisition Mike Leake (RHP, SF) looks to be on track after a PQS-5 return from the DL (hamstring) on August 22. Jake Peavy (RHP, SF) has also pitched relatively well in the second half (3.64 ERA, 3.0 Cmd, 74 BPV in 54 IP) after a back injury sent him to the DL in April. It gets uglier after that.

Matt Cain (RHP, SF) is on shaky ground through 10 starts, with a 6.15 ERA and 1.58 WHIP. An unfavorable 33/65% H%/S% certainly hasn't helped, but Cain's 4.68 xERA says he's largely deserved this fate....
