Josh Rojas (2B/3B, ARI) looked to be on the hot seat entering 2023. The team added Evan Longoria (3B, ARI ) to challenge and potentially surpass him at third base -- the position where he had the clearest path to playing time -- and Emmanuel Rivera (3B, ARI) seemingly had a moderate degree of sleeper appeal. Three weeks into the season, the playing time distribution at the position is more clear. Rojas has started 11 games at third base (through Monday) while Longoria has started only six. That allocation may not be even as close as it appears on paper, as Longoria has yet to be in the lineup against right-handed pitching while Rojas has yet to sit with the handedness advantage.
