PT TOMORROW: NL West — Could COL turn to youth for hitting reinforcements?

Colorado Rockies

Colorado’s offseason signing of Mark Reynolds (1B, COL) didn't produce much fanfare. But it has turned out to be one of the more significant moves of the winter, as Reynolds currently boasts a .282 BA (.255 xBA) with 23 HR and 74 RBI while generally occupying the #4 or #5 spot in the order. Reynolds, who recently missed time with a sore hand, had a rough July (.229 BA, 3 HR), during which he posted a season-low contact rate of 58%. The swing-and-miss is a concern, and a closer look shows the stark split between his pre-June 1 ct% (75%) and post June-1 ct% (59%) figures. That said, even though his early season .300 BA is surely a thing of the past, he should nonetheless provide strong power numbers down the stretch.
