It will be interesting to see where free-agent-to-be Fernando Rodney (RHP, ARI) signs this coming offseason, but there’s no denying that the Diamondbacks got their money’s worth when it comes to the 1-year/$2.75M deal they struck prior to the 2017 season. Despite a few times where it really looked like the ride would come to an end, the arrow-slinging 40-year-old has held down the closer’s role all year long, amassing 36 saves (4.17 ERA) in the process. His second-half numbers have fallen off only slightly, with his xERA rising from 3.71 (1H) to 3.78 (2H), Ctl from 4.3 (1H) to 4.4 (2H) and FpK dropping from 61% (1H) down to 52% (2H).
