PT TOMORROW: NL East—SS situation still a mess for NYM

Shortstop continues to be a sore spot for the Mets. Rubén Tejada (SS, NYM) has a slashline of .221/.338/.250 with 6 RBI, 12 BB (including 5 IBB) and 19 K in 82 PA. He had a .519 OPS with 10 RBI and 0.58 Eye in 208 AB in 2013. On the bright side, at least his defense has shown some improvement. But still, this level of production is not going to cut it as an everyday player in the majors. That being said, the team’s options are extremely limited.

Omar Quintanilla (INF, NYM) has received five starts in place of Tejada this season, but hasn’t done much with the opportunities (.286/.348/.333 with 3 RBI, 2 BB and 3 K in 23 PA). That’s not at all surprising considering his track record (.586 OPS in 1154 career PA).
