PT TOMORROW: NL East—Shuster, Dodd fighting for 5th SP spot in ATL

Jared Shuster (LHP, ATL) is pitching well in spring training with a 1.04 ERA, 0.35 WHIP, one walk, and nine strikeouts in 8.2 IP. In a recent outing, Shuster's changeup had five whiffs on 11 thrown (45% Whiff%), and the slider elicited seven whiffs on 10 breaking balls (70% Whiff%). Mike Soroka has a hamstring issue, though he's close to making his spring debut. Meanwhile, Ian Anderson has struggled with a 6.14 ERA, 1.77 WHIP, eight walks, and eight strikeouts. With Anderson's control issues, manager Brian Snitker mentioned positive comments about Shuster in the spring. The Braves also recently optioned Anderson and Bryce Elder to Triple-A, which clears a path for another starting pitcher.
