PT TOMORROW: NL East—Should PHI reduce Howard's PT?

Philadelphia Phillies

Back on May 10 we discussed the pitiful production the Phillies have gotten from first base this year, specifically the right-handed side of its platoon, and predicted the promotion of Tommy Joseph (1B, PHI) from Triple-A could be forthcoming. Sure enough, it happened on May 13 as Darin Ruf (1B/OF, PHI) was jettisoned to Lehigh Valley. The Phillies have been opposed by three left-handers since then, and Joseph has been in the lineup in each of those games. Might manager Pete Mackanin soon expand Joseph’s role?

With Ryan Howard’s (1B, PHI) putrid performance, especially of late (.091/.180/.318 with 3 HR and 61% ct% through his first 44 AB in May), one has to wonder how much longer they can keep trotting him out...

Almost!
