When Nick Markakis (OF, ATL) landed on the IL with a fractured wrist on July 27, the Braves called up Adam Duvall (OF, ATL) in a corresponding move, presumably to act as a fourth OF. Prior to his call-up, the outfield roles in ATL were already in flux: Ender Inciarte (OF, ATL) came off the IL and began to see more regular playing time at the expense of rookie Austin Riley (3B/OF, ATL), who was mired in a prolonged slump.

Duvall was inserted into the lineup the night he joined the team and paid immediate dividends, going 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI. Manager Brian Snitker has written Duvall’s name into the starting lineup every game since. The 30-year-old former All-Star has responded exceptionally well in his return...
