The Phillies are desperate a center fielder. How desperate, you ask? Dead last at the position with a 19 wRC+, they’re desperate enough to consider asking a player with no prior professional experience at any outfield position to learn the most defensively challenging one, on the fly, at the MLB level. No big deal. We’ll get to that.
Four players have patrolled center in Philadelphia in 2021. We’ll start our tour with the one who’s drawn the most starts, Roman Quinn (OF, PHI). So, why can't Quinn be the center fielder?
